Re: btv 3.7.4 released

They updated several posts where people had described symptoms that were fixed with the release.

Re: btv 3.7.4 released

seriously, if you look back at my complaints since 3.5, this has fixed the strobing issue, I have better image depth, CC works better than ever (although I still have a few navigation bugs with snapstream video/sp and ati decoders, reported those) and I have not seen any major issues since I loaded her up.

OVerall very nice job, now beyond the one or two remaining bugs, can we start fixing up beyond media so we can get these two integrated! (and by fixing up I mean the bugs, not the integration. We've got a few before I suggest they merge)

Re: btv 3.7.4 released

I have noticed a problem. Setting up a manual recording works from web interface and from UI, but doesn't record anything!

EDIT:
I later tried a couple of manual recordings on my main pvr, it worked fine on that machine, AND now it works fine on this system!!!... I think it did this on purpose. Yesterday I had an important job to do with it. Today, I don't need it for anything important and it works!!!

Re: btv 3.7.4 released

I was holding off on 3.7.2 due to some of the issues I read about. But so far so good on 3.7.4, The buffer files (.dat) don't seem to be used anymore. It seems to create a temp MPG file with the name of what you are currently watching. I'm testing out a manual recording from the web now.

It loads a lot faster, like maybe two-thirds faster.

By CC do you mean closed captioning? This is the one issue that was stopping me from upgrading as my wife would kill me if I couldn't get it to work.

Re: btv 3.7.4 released

I am still using 3.5.3. I also have 2 BTV link computers. When I upgrade to 3.7.4, do I upgrade to and is there a BTV link that will be 3.7.4?

Just found the answer by actually going to the BTV link download page. I guess I should have done that first.

yes, 3.7.4 supports closed captioning (I assume officially but you still have to set the tryCC to 1 in settings.xml and you need an Hauppauge card). I have noticed it is a little flaky in some decoders, but that is an improvement from 3.5.3 which only had working cc's with the cyberlink decoder.

My ati decoder and the snapstream video/sp decoder both have hesitations and freezes when navigating in video (skip forward, etc) which I've put in a bug report for. The cyberlink decoder works the same except I used to have system crashes occasionally in 3.5.2 when pressing the skipo buttons too ofter, that doesn't happen in 3.7.4. I think it is a good build to upgrade to, but then again I always run new builds on a test system for a couple of weeks before upgrading my main build.
