3.7.2: How to record LiveTV buffer?

Ok so I know there is a new Time shifting buffer that it supposed to allow one to record ad show including the current buffer.

My question is how do you actually start the recording?

I believe that 3.7.2 just records going forward (it starts a new slice). It doesn't include the current buffer

Are you serious?
Why would they do that?

I should be able to press record on my remote and have the buffer recorded as well as going forward for any given show I'm watching.

Yes, sounds absolutley point less if this were the case.

I'll try the suggestions above when I get home, thanks !

All the release notes say is:

"Converted recording engine to use slices rather than a circular buffer for improved stability"

Doesn't mean that it might not lead to something else (fingers crossed), but in this release it is what it is (improved stability)

Re: 3.7.2: How to record LiveTV buffer?

Hmmm I could have swore I read another thread where it was mentioned that the reason they no longer allowed you to set the buffer location was that the buffer was used for the recording , thus it had to be on the recording drive?

Ah well enough conjecture, I need to get off my arse and test it already =)

Re: 3.7.2: How to record LiveTV buffer?

So I have tested pressing record while in live tv and it just record from that point on.

Very Disappointing.

Re: 3.7.2: How to record LiveTV buffer?

To make matters worse, I just had a live buffer incident that cause the entire buffer to disappear just like in 3.5.

So much for enhanced reliability

Re: 3.7.2: How to record LiveTV buffer?

Hmm ... I dont think thats where i got it, I dont really even read the threads, just mess around with the beta releases..

I think i put it together from this: http://forums.snapstream.com/vb/show...ice#post152714

I figured if you already have a file you DONT have to reuse for other buffering duties, then least you could do was use the slice as the beginning of that recording.

oh well!

Re: 3.7.2: How to record LiveTV buffer?

The current version of beyondTV only records from the current point forward. In future versions it may be possible to record the contents of the buffer, as to when / if this feature is implemented, stay tuned.
