Onboard Audio?

Dell Dimension 4700 XP Home / onboard audio / 3.0 GB / 2BG RAM / X300 ATI with cat 5.7.

Hi All , will the Hauppauge PVR-250BTV (or a 350/ not BTV) and Beyond TV work with onboard Audio - new Dell 4700. Does it have internal wires to hookup? Also what is the Hardware encoding card ( or USB) for quality and Beyond TV compatibly with Beyond TV.

Last- can I opt not to install any of the cards bundled Live TV Guides

(ex..Titan/Gemni), so I can install only Beyond TV....

Thanks, p5tom

Re: Onboard Audio?

You're machine is completely fine for BTV.

The PVR-250 and 350 will work fine. There's no internal or external audio connections needed for television. The audio will travel across the PCI bus and be processed by the onboard audio.

And yes, you can opt not to install the bundled tv guides. You won't need them.

With the Hauppauge PVRs (150, 250, 350, 500, USB2), the audio comes directly into the card from the source, either from the cable, or plugged directly into the card if you connect via svideo or composite. So, the onboard audio isn't a problem (both of my servers and two of my links have onboard audio) as it just handles the audio playback.

Re: Onboard Audio?

Yes, and be careful, tho. Even tho the sound from the line-in for the cable does work, some channels won't pick up the sound at all. I tried making the sound work on all channels, but with the PVR-150, there are issues that sound will not work on all channels. I better hope that bug gets fixed very soon. Are there any drivers from BTV or Hauppauge that will fix the issue so sound works on all stations?

I've got a couple of 150s, and never had this sound issue (fingers crossed)

Re: Onboard Audio?

I've never had that issue, but I also have to admit that I have a PVR-250 and a PVR-250MCE. You might try running the hwclear thingamabob and reinstalling the latest drivers.
