Can't Set Recording Prefs

I did a search here and didn't find anything... perhaps someone can point me in the right direction.

For more than I year I've been recording in the MPG format. Recently I decided to try out the WMV format. When open the web admin and go into "Recording Preferences," the "Recording File Format" dropdown is disabled with "MPEG-2" selected. The only option available in the settings within the BTV application is "MPEG-2". I know the WMV codecs are on my pc... BTV uses them to show squeeze programs for my iPaq. Tons of WMV selections show up in the "Video Qualities" area.

I seemed to remember that at one time you needed to disable time-shifting to change the format to WMV, but I can't for the life of me find anywhere to do so. Is this still the case? If so, how is it done?

Any ideas? I am using 7.3.2 (build 2416).

What type of tuner do you have ? If it is a hardware based tuner, then you can only record in MPG2, and would have to showsqueeze the result into WMV.

Brilliant! That is indeed the situation. I recently upgraded my TV Tuner card to the 250, which does hardware encoding. Thanks... it was driving me nuts trying to figure out how to enable WMV.

Perhaps BTV should display some sort of a message when WMV is unavailable...

They kinda do, but in reverse by making the non MPEG2 recording qualities unavailable
