Exclamation WARNING! Backup your BTV files before 3.7.2 upgrade!

Create a restore point and backup BTV before upgrading to 3.7.2, or at least make sure you have a copy of the 3.5.3 installer!
This release is VERY unstable, at least on my system, and the new timeshift buffer is buggy.
This is the first time I've had to revert to a previous version, and I hope it is the last.
I will be contacting tech support once I finish installing Windows updates on all my computers.

Can you be a little more specific about the problems you are having ? The sky is falling isn't going to help anyone.

Re: WARNING! Backup your BTV files before 3.7.2 upgrade!

I have upgraded to 3.7.2. Had a small issue (not sure if it was related) with Stephane's XMLTV importer not being able to connect to the BTV server (I import Singapore TV listings). This was fixed by going and getting the latest build of the importer which worked, no problems.

I am pretty sure that the TV picture is even better for me (the release notes mention some PAL improvements), couldn't be happier.

Re: WARNING! Backup your BTV files before 3.7.2 upgrade!

Tried upgrading yuk! then clean install, the same. Remote would not work properly (Firefly) would only accept one digit then would change to an unrelated channel. I tried deleting sources, then editing sources no change. I'm now back to 3.5.3. Sorry Snapstream, I've never had to uninstall like this before.VAl.

Major problems with the timeshift buffer, recordings disapearing, random crashes that seem to be related to the buggy timeshitf buffer.

Let the timeshift buffer run out of space on the drive and you should see why I had to downgrade.

Ok, you ran out of space in your recording folder (which is where the timeshift buffer records), and BTV tried to create additional space by deleting old shows. Unfortunate, but basic functionality if you let BTV automatically manage your folders. Still don't see any bugs.

Re: WARNING! Backup your BTV files before 3.7.2 upgrade!

Does anyone know how to change the timeshift drive and folder in the new release. I like having the timeshift files on a seperate drive from my recordings?

Re: WARNING! Backup your BTV files before 3.7.2 upgrade!

I don't think it's possible now. The actual time shift is now a recording of the current show you are watching. That's probably how they do the "retro" record of the show ur currently watching. If you watch your default folder you'll see a hidden file of the current show your watching.

You can't. It will always record to the default recordings folder.

Re: WARNING! Backup your BTV files before 3.7.2 upgrade!

Whoa, I have to second, or third or whatever this. 3.7.2 totally broke my setup. I now have the picture zoomed in!!??, news tickers are now jerky, and they were silky smooth before andl I can't import any BTVXML files, even with the latest version of the importer. Back to 3.5.2 for me.

That's actually a sweet option! People have been begging to be able to save their timeshifting buffer so they can save the last 15 minutes of TV (or however long). I don't recall seeing that in the release notes. I sure hope my rebuild this weekend will let me use 3.7.2. It sounds not too shabby... if I can get it to run stable.

Re: WARNING! Backup your BTV files before 3.7.2 upgrade!

I insalled 3.72 yesterday and it only saves my buffer in livetv mode when the record button is pushed. When I exit live tv and go in to recorded shows to view what I have recorded it's just like 3.5 it onlysaves from when I pushed record. I have tried expierements like pushin record exiting looking at what's recording in the recording folder and the saved buffer is not there, and then exiting back to live tv and the buffer is still there. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

I think that is expected bahavior (buffer is only saved if you press record). All other slices are automatically deleted.

Re: WARNING! Backup your BTV files before 3.7.2 upgrade!

So what your saying is if I start watching tv and 15 mins in I decide I want to record what i'm watching there is still no way to save the entire buffer? The one thing that I don't understand is in 3.5 I would hit record and I would lose all my buffer up till the point I hit record. Now when I hit record it saves everything I have been watching just not as a recorded file only in live tv mode.
