Having trouble setting processor affinity in BTV service startup.
Just installed BTV on a EVO W8000 Dual 3.0 Xeon system (HT on), 2gb, U160 200gb TV program storage & 500mce tuner. Runs great, but my game servers running on the system would drop clients whenever a recording started or the program guide updated. Thanks to some great forum information, I now schedule my program guide updates so as to not interfere with the game servers. Since I use FireDaemon Pro for starting my game servers, I decided to start the BTVagent2 using Firedaemon pro and define processor affinity so BTV would use cpus 0 & 2 and the game servers would use cpus 1 & 3. When I check task manager, BTVagent2 and BTVwebserver are indeed using the defined processors 0 & 2, but BTVrecordingengines and BTVtasklistprocessorservice are using all 4 cpus. Not sure about who starts all the PVS* processes, but they too are using all 4 cpus. Anyone have experience doing this via Firedaemon Pro? If so how do I get all the processes to start with a set affinity? Right now I just go in and manually set all of the BTV and PVS apps to the right affinity and have had no more problems with the game servers. Thanks in advance for any help. Roger |
