Question Unable to Pause Live TV, and Remote Wonder issues

Hello,

I just downloaded the new trial version to give it a test run before I buy it. I am just sick of ATI's MMC, so I wanted something more powerful.

I'm running an AMD Sempron 2200+ with a Radeon 7500 All in Wonder, with 1 Gig of Ram.

When viewing live tv, pressing pause (with mouse or remote), does nothing.

Also, when pressing a few commands with the remote, it then becomes completely unusable and no commands work.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? If you need more info, let me know.

Thanks

Re: Unable to Pause Live TV, and Remote Wonder issues

The Radeon All-in-Wonder family use software encoding (Windows Media Video format) of the TV signal, rather than the hardware encoding (MPEG2 format) used by Hauppauge cards.

WMV formats do not support pausing or navigation of live TV- to acheive this you would need to upgrade to an MPEG2 tuner.

The remote problems may be due to the CPU become overloaded as its trying to cope with a raw TV data stream at the same time as the remote instructions.

Works fine in MMC (pausing and navigation).

Why wouldnt Beyond TV be the same?

Nope. I have an AIW 8500, did the same thing. It doesn't natively support doing what BTV does - the MMC has some trickery in the software. Plus, you have to run it in Overlay mode, so you loose out on the pop-up menus and stuff.

I bit the big one and bought a hardware MPEG encoder (PVR-150) and never looked back since. In fact, I bought a second one and popped it in yesterday for a dual tuner setup.

Once you've used this thing, it's tough to go back to regular TV.

Re: Unable to Pause Live TV, and Remote Wonder issues

I just purchased a PVR-500-MCE. I'm hoping this does the trick. Anyone have experience with this model? Or at least, the WINTV line of MCE cards?

From the BeyondTV 3.5 Read Me First thread:

Also, a limitation of the All-in-Wonder prevents the overlay from working properly with timeshifting. If you are unable to pause liveTV, please goto Settings->Playback Settings->Video Renderer. Change Overlay to 3D Acceleration.

Did you happen to use the X10 driver workaround for getting your Remote Wonder systray panel to show up? Doing so will result in just this sort of behavior.
