Ive been thinking about building a HTPC and using Snapstream. I was wondering what would be the best way to control my directv SIR-TS360. Can i control the reciever with the RS232C port or will i have to use an ir blaster. the manual says the rs232 port is "uesd to connect your reciever to a computer for reading and loading data information". has anybody controlled their reciever with this port?
I was also wondering what a good tv tuner would be. I am looking at the Hauppauge(spelling??) pvr-150 or pvr-150MCE but i hear that there is a quality problem with the s-video input, which i would be using. any suggestions?? i would like hardware encoding. thanks in advance |

Re: Best way to control a Samsung SIR-TS360 Directv reciever and other questions
I have not been able to figure out how to control the TS360 with the serial port, and nobody seems to have any answers. I posted a while ago and have not gotten any responses. Samsung techs had no information either and just dodged the q. Let me know if you figure anything out.

Re: Best way to control a Samsung SIR-TS360 Directv reciever and other questions
Has anyone been able to figure this serial control for channel changing yet. It looks like Cestron has figured it out, now if someone can get it integrated into BTV. Check out this link:

Re: Best way to control a Samsung SIR-TS360 Directv reciever and other questions
Please see the post below. I've figured out what the codes are and have verified that they work. But, this receiver expects to receive the commands at 57600 only and it appears that BTV only sends them at 9600. So far I have not been able to find out if there is a way to configure either BTV or the receiver to use a different baud rate. Hopefully, someone can find a solution soon.
Serial Tuning Changing Baud Rate
