BTV Link is also updated. Even though its web page says 3.5.2, the software says 3.5.3 when it's downloaded. I'm looking forward to seeing the changes.

Anyone run these yet? My system is very stable, don't know if I'm really missing anything based on the release notes.

Re: 3.5.3 is released ...

I backed into running BTV 3.5.3. I was trying out the BTV Link trial and kept getting the error

"Could not connect to 'Beyond TV Server' Failed to get build number from server. Please update server to a more recent version."

So I treid to get help from the trusty snapstream forums. There was a lot of different ways that folks "fixed" this server issue. But unfortunetly none of those solutions worked for me. At the end of my rope I tried one more thing ( updating the BTV software from the update link. I thought I had the latest ( 3.5.2 ) but apparently not.

So to answer the previous questiion "Anyone run these yet? My system is very stable, don't know if I'm really missing anything based on the release notes." I have and everything is working like before. No issues and now ... finally.... I have BTV Link up and running.

Lesson learned ... Have to read the error message first. Try the obvious fix from the error message and then IF that doesn't work go to the forums for help.

I'd also be curious about the method of upgrade you used:

1. Simply install 3.5.3
2. Surgically remove the previous version and then install
3. Nuke and install

Any observations appreciated.

Re: 3.5.3 is released ...

For the new BTV Link do I just download the trial version to update my 3.5.2 version to 3.5.3? Also what is new in 3.5.3. I can seem to find the release notes for BTV Link like I do for BTV.

Use this link to get the update for BTV 3.5.3
http://www.snapstream.com/Download/b...nk/default.asp

Under the Beyond TV Link Trial "live link" there is a paragragh. In that paragraph contains the sentence "Click here to upgrade to the latest version of Beyond TV. " Click on the word "here" which is another live link that starts the download of Upgrade BTV 3.5.3. Run the BTV 3.5.3 Upgrade install file, it will copy the new files over your existing installation and everything should be good to go.

Re: 3.5.3 is released ...

OK. Let's get the EXTREMELY high CPU usage problem solved. On my system, 3.5.1 the CPU usage is ok. On 3.5.2 & 3.5.3 the usage is around 99 percent. I can't even use my mouse without it choking every one or two seconds much less run ANY other program. There has to be an issue here. I am running a Dell Deminsion 8200 2.5 Ghz with 533 FSB and 768 ram. More than enough power. My card is an ATI TV Wonder Pro. OK, let's get past the fact that this is a software render card becuase I know I will get respones to upgrade to a hardware card. bottom line. Ok with 3.5.1, not ok with .2 and .3.

OK, I bit the bullet, after making an image backup. I installed over 3.51 w/o incident and didn't have to even reboot (although I did).

The picture seems a little softer and I, like one of the others - notice an increase in CPU, from 35 to 45% during Live TV.

There was also a complaint while trying use Remote Desktop into the server.

Otherwise, stay tuned..

An update. Somehow, the decoder had been set to Default. The picture sharpness returned upon setting it to NVIDIA. However, the CPU is still high.

Also, BTV Link is a washout. The new version locks up, showing a perpetual hourglass on a machine that the 3.51 Link was working fine.

Re: 3.5.3 is released ...

dumb question: is there any sort of 'announcement' mailing list one can sign up for with snapstream, to be alerted when new versions come out? very common for a lot of software i use, and saves the whole 'find out three weeks after release purely by random chance' phenonomenon.

Re: 3.5.3 is released ...

A LOT of companies use mailing lists as a marketing tool. We all know what happens to those emails. My guess is snapstream expects it's customers to be devoted enough to go to their site on a regular basis. They have their channels, though. Snapstream is also a pretty small company - so, maybe they simply don't know that this practically wouldn't cost anything? I doubt it.

Looks like they don't believe in it.

Re: 3.5.3 is released ...

My live TV screen went black, on both the BeyondTV 3.5.3 Server and the BeyondTV Client

I can still connect with the client, and watch recorded shows on both but that's it.

...and it was working so well

EDIT: I fixed it. Ffor some odd reason it reset my source to svideo.
