What is the best option for controlling a DirecTV D10 satellite box?

Hello

I need to change channels on my DirecTV D10 satellite receiver. It has a low-speed RJ-22 port on the back. Are there any good ways to control this box without an IR blaster/transmitter? If not, what's the best IR blaster available that will work?

thanks,

You can buy a serial tuning cable from Snapstream- it works with the D10. (I have the same box)

I use the serial cable also and it works great. I highly recommend it for this STB.

Exclamation Bought the cable - still not working

I bought the $20 cable, and it's still not working. The cable is hooked up to my serial port on the PC, and in the "Low Speed Data" port on the DirecTV D10 reciever.

I uninstalled BeyondTV and re-installed it. This allowed me to go through the setup again. I specified my remote, satellite service and area, and when it got to the testing portion of the setup wizard, the picture and sound came through just fine.

When I change the channels using the little up and down buttons on the testing screen, the PC sends a signal to the DirecTV D10 that shuts the D10 off. It comes back on again about 30 seconds later on the same channel it was on when I started.

Apparently, the COM port is set up correctly, because something is being sent to the box (shutting it off). Apparently, there is a problem somewhere else that is freaking things out.

Please help.

thanks,
