Two Inputs on One PVR-150..?

Okay, this seems like it should be doable but I can't figure it out and haven't seen another post with this question.

I have both DirecTV and basic cable (for high speed internet, so I get the basic channels too). I want to be able to record from both sources without having to add multiple cards. Note that I'm talking about different INPUTS here (an SVID and an RF) and the PVR-150 handles these both. Also note that I'm not trying to record two things at once; I just want the capability to switch inputs to record from both sources at different times. So here's the rundown:

On the PVR-150 card, I want to use:
The RF input for basic cable (no box)
The S-Video in for a Sony SAT-A55

I *can* hook this up as above and then manually switch the inputs in BTVs config and it works properly, one source at a time. The big question is how can I get BTV to recognize these two "sources" as being available for recording? I really don't think I should have to add another card to get this functionality (since it's already supported in the hardware) but I'll be darned if I can figure it out.

Help???

Thanks!

have you tried creating a new video source, but on the second specify the composite input instead of svideo?

Re: Two Inputs on One PVR-150..?

Short answer: You can't do this.

Long answer: You can't do this, because you only have one source per card utilized by BTV at any given time, and that source defaults to what you set up to correspond to a lineup. You'd have to configure the source twice and set a default, it won't just "switch on the fly".

Re: Two Inputs on One PVR-150..?

Um. Donk... are you really sure?

You can specify a video source for a scheduled recording just as if it was a nother tuner card; and at least one iteration of the beta would let you define multiple sources for the same card and would treat them as one card for licensing and was smart enough not to schedule both inputs at once... Did that get abandoned? cos it worked I thought...

I don;'t have a setup to try it atm.. (that is, I'm too lazy to get off my ass)

I was thinking he was trying to record two sources at once, not separately.... my bad... It may work, but why not get multiple tuner goodness???

Re: Two Inputs on One PVR-150..?

Good point DonK. I'm just getting this setup now and wanted to leverage the resources I currently have - thanks for the advice. Interestingly, I could try to use the ATI AIW 128 I have in there (as a video card) as another source... Nah - it's on it's last days anyway as an output only device :-)

Re: Two Inputs on One PVR-150..?

I have this setup working (actually one very close to it, just using antenna instead of basic cable) flawlessly, so far.

PVR-250MCE S-video input = DirecTV receiver
PVR-250MCE RF input = Antenna
PVR-150MCE RF input = Antenna

I can record two different antenna channels at once, or 1 satellite channel + 1 antenna channel. Its actually fairly useful, since there has never been a situation where I've needed 2 antennas + 1 satellite channel at the same time, so this saves the cost of an extra tuner license.

To get this working I simply added the RF input on the PVR-250MCE via the web admin and set it to my normal antenna channel lineup.
