Hardware Encoding

This is really a two parter, so I apologize.
1) There used to be an option which allowed you to choose Hardware of Software encoding. I can't seem to find it now. Is it still available or does it automatically do hardware encoding if able?

2) 'IF' one is using hardware encoding, what are typical CPU usage percentages during a recording?
Mine's running around 60-80%, so I suspect I'm doing software encoding. This is a cheap card but it has served its purpose well. The website for the card says 'Real-Time MPEG 4/2/1 Encoding' so I'm wondering if this means Hardware Encoding capability. If so, I'm hoping to make use of it.

Thanks

Re: Hardware Encoding

1) In order to use Hardware encoding, you have to have one of the supported cards that offer hardware encoding:

http://kb.snapstream.com/?kbid=47

If you card supports hardware encoding, software encoding does not even appear as an option.

2) One of my PVR-250s is recording right now and my CPU is under 5%. I can even burn DVDs at the same time as recording two shows without issue.

As for your card supporting hardware encoding, the support site says "real time encoding" as you note. It doesn't say anything about hardware encoding, so my assumption is that it does not.
