With all the problems TiVo is having (especially after today) I'm almost wondering if SS and TiVo (or someone else) are going to merge, leaving the SS developers too busy to:
1) respond to much of what we post 2) update their FAQs with all the information this community has already reported on. (eg: missing red balls, broken Hauppauge 150/500 driver initialize, etc.) 3) put out a fix (even a beta) to the buggy 3.5.1 release Something must be going on at SnapStream. Like many others on this board, I am also software developer who can't even hit the sheets each night if I know there are ANY bugs in my released software products. I can't believe the developers at SS are much different, because they have produced something that is bleeding-edge and very slick. john |

Re: TiVo going down?
I believe SS definitely needs to work on their customer service, but in there defense, they are not building a cookie cutter software package. I am as nearly annoyed with some of the issues I have found and read about.
I think what I am totally not happy with is the lack of statements in a public forum of what SS is looking into, work arounds, and an expected release dates to fix identified problems. As for the response time on tickets that are opened, I am almost happy, at least I am getting responses to my issues and follow up emails. I think the biggest pet peeve I have is the fact that there are so many others wanting so many ridiculous new features. Personally, I would rather have the bugs worked out first. The second bigest pet peeve, are users who are expecting SS to scan these posts looking for issues. Why bother having a formal mechanism for logging defects then? I have noticed that many of the problems that have been discussed are either minor or user error. |

Re: TiVo going down?
I agree - make the functions that are there work properly, charge me 3,4,5 times the price if that's what it takes. I've spent over $700 for a super beta deck 15 years ago - I'm not going to whine about paying for upgrades and added functionality to BTV today.
I also believe that the board is has helped me resolve a number of problems the tech group couldn't resolve. Because of that it's an invaluable source of FAQ/troubleshooting data - anyone not seeing that doesn't know what a community board is designed to do or what our input represents. john |

Reasonable people will have to admit that some of the requests that the users are asking for in BTV is out there. I'd rather see some of those items placed in BM so that BTV can be smaller and faster. I don't want another MS bloat ware package where everything you can dream of is in it. |
