UPnP server on a BTV machine

Can I run a UPnP server on the same machine that I run BTV on?

I am currently running a D5 UPnP server (for the GoVideo 2730) and the beyond tv software on my pc. I runs fine, though you should keep an eye on your system resources....

can someone explain what UPnP is? i see where it can be enabled, but i don't know what it does.
