Red face "George is getting frustrated!!!"

OK.... I have been a big fan of BTV since I first bought it, and I am a TiVo convert who has successfully converted at least 1 other person to BTV. But I am starting to feel a little sheepish arguing the merits of BTV over TiVo or other solutions.

I updated to 3.5 with hopes of finally being able to stream over the network from my 250 bundle that I purchased from SnapStream and also hopes of my guide updates working well.

The streaming works fine as long as I buy BTV Link. This is fine.

My guide updates are still not working and there does not seem to be a way to make sure they work completely without waiting until I'm out of data. The logs say that guide data is being downloaded and updated every night. There are SOME new shows on the schedule so SOME guide data is getting downloaded. But if I don't do manual updates, all of a sudden I wind up with an empty program guide grid. Do a manual update, alakazam, the guide's fine again. It would be REALLY nice to at least have something that tells me what date the guide data is currently good till, what the status was of the last guide update, etc., like my TiVo had on the phone setup screeen. I am about to upgrade to 3.5.1 IN HOPES OF MY GUIDE DATA UPDATING PROPERLY. But there is NO WAY FOR ME TO VERIFY short of waiting the 2 weeks or however long it takes to run out of data again.

Now, on top of that, the basic functionality of the recorder, namely conflict resolution, scheduling shows, etc. is in question. Conflict resolution functionality is spotty and there was a post here not long ago that claimed that a developer told someone it would now only work when choosing off the program guide - to my knowledge this is thus far unrefuted.

When I schedule a show to record all new episodes, none of the episodes show that they are scheduled to record, even though they show up in the upcoming recordings list. I also regularly miss new episodes not because of conflicts but because SnapStream, although it shows them as new in the 'view upcoming episodes' screen, simply doesn't record them. Maybe it has to do with the guide updating, I don't know.

I am a programmer and thus I understand the h@ll that is software engineering and customer support. I am willing to give A LOT of leeway. But I feel like the basic functionality that worked on my TiVo flawlessly from day one is faltering more every day on my BTV setup. I WANT it to work. I LOVE the interface and the product in general. But it WONT WORK and there isn't any good way for me to tell why. Can someone PLEASE help me?

Re: "George is getting frustrated!!!"

If the guide data is your biggest concern, then upgrade to 3.5.1 One of the fixes in 3.5.1 was for the guide update issues with 3.5
