End of recording event

Does anyone know of a way to run an event once snapstream ends recording or viewing a program. I intend to use this to control a light to show girders recording status.

So far I have tried using CustomPostProcessing.xml and ssppcmd.dll but this does not work on my 3.51 system.

I am using girder to control a USB-UIRT and can use the enter event form SSGirderTuner to switch the light on but can’t find anything to hook into for the end of a recording.

Anyone doing this? Perhaps for an LED panel on their PVR PC.

At some point I will manage to convince others in my home to watch live TV through the PVR and then this will no longer be needed!

Re: End of recording event

Edgarmoon,

Thanks for the suggestion but that seems to add an item to the recorded shows menu and not automatically run at the end of the recording.

Everyone,

I have now got this working as I noticed that the showsqueze log was reporting errors due to my command i added in CustomPostProcessing.xml after a quick look I found a stray " in the file

Hopefully I will now get my program recorded and not what ever someone sitting on the couch wants to watch!

I am still interested if any one else has played with this sort of thing as I guess this will switch on the light when I watch live TV but not switch it off again.

It would be best if Snapstream could add a remote command for end of recording so it could switch off your digibox at the end of the recording.

There was promise of an API to control of LED display systems on the release of 3.51 anything on the horizon?

Re: End of recording event

What would really be cool is if you could use the customprocessing to send a command to the received to turn off the remote when recordings start and to turn it on again when they are complete (the command works for Directv through serial cables into low speed data port. That will keep the family from changing channels on you. I haven't been able to get this to work, maybe you might.

Hey LCDSmartie looks great I don't have an LCD display but may now get one.

Edgarmoon:
I use a IR blaster (USB-UIRT) to control my cable box so I am powerless to prevend the family messing with my recordings.

My family like watching recorded TV but won't use BTV for live TV. I will now focus on getting the output picture quality improved.

Re: End of recording event

Good luck on that. The best I get is displaymode:exclusivefs, and I set it back a few seconds to avoid occasional jumpiness. In my opinion livetv is the weakest link, recorded shows really works the best and honestly, I see no reson to watch livetv unless you are in the past anyway. (in order to skip commercials) and again, for that I'd rather use recorded shows because the problem with btv livetv is the buffer gets reset if channels are changed. My ATI MMC has a continuous buffer regardless of channels, so I can backtrack even if channels are accidently changed or I go to check another station during commercials

Hint Hint Snapstream, for version 3.6 or whatever, another fix.

But yeah, I would be happy just to have a red led light on a wire I could tape to my tv set that lights up when recordings are on to warn my wife not to change channels and screw up my recording. However, I am planning on getting a parallel port lcd that I can fix on my tv or satelite box. What I want it to show is what show is recording, if nothing is recording, what is the next scheduled recording, and if I am playing something, what is playing (last point is trivial and I may skip, just focus on current and scheduled recordings) I have not delved into the program details yet, and am looking at a Seiko lcd with a hitatchi controller that I can wire a parallet cable to (I like to solder), as soon as I determine it will work with the mentioned plugin. LCD is only about $12, complete units are around $45+

Re: End of recording event

How about locking the cable box up in an IR proof box and only use BTV to control it?

Re: End of recording event

Nope, we still watch tv using the cable box. BTV is mainly for recording, and records from the box as well as antenna for local channels. IF the livetv quality were ideal then maybe, but they have a long way to go.

Of course, I will probably setup a second tuner box jsut for recordings, bat that's another $5/month, which I object to strictly on principle. Back in the good old days, you paid a monthly service and bought as many boxes as you needed. I don't see where I should pay for a different box for each tv. Maybe if there were some serious competition in the industry, they would be forced to get rid of that. (actually I think the issue is that you could conceivable have duplicate boxes at other houses with duplicate dishes)

I saw where Dish network has a dual tuner box as part of their rental program, where you don't pay for the second tuner, has anyone worked with this? I am completely happy with Directv, but that alone might persuade me to switch just to send them a message.

Ok, I'm completely off topic. Sorry
