Software card as Live TV viewer

I have a Hauppauge USB2 and a Wintv Go. Will BTV allow me to make the Hauppauge ONLY do recordings and have the WinTV ONLY do live tv?

Re: Software card as Live TV viewer

I don't think so. You can choose which order the cards are selected for the jobs (they're automatically selected in one order for recording and in the reverse of that order for Live TV), but I don't think you can actually force each card to only be used for one purpose.

'Course, you can go into each of your recording jobs and force-assign each and every one to a specific tuner, but (a) that would be extremely tedious because you have to do it on a job-by-job basis, and (b) it still wouldn't address what happens if you hit record directly from the Live TV view or the program guide.

I think ejdriscoll is right. I tried a similar setup with the PVR250 and an All in Wonder card. I had to go and see what recordings were going to take place and forced all the top priority shows to use the 250. The lower priority shows would use the All in Wonder.

I had my #1 tuner as the 250 and the #2 was the AIW. If I had two shows scheduled at 7:00pm. BeyondTV would start the higher priority show with the AIW (#2) and then use the PVR250(#1) for the lower priority. This was backwareds. It should use the 250 for the higher priority. I submitted this to the Snapstream folk as a bug/FYI. I got back the response that I suspected, mixing software and hardware encoders is not supported.

I ended up getting a PVR150 and don't have these problems anymore. I don't even used the TV part of the AIW.

Maybe someone can write a script that will go thru and change the settings for each individual recording.

Re: Software card as Live TV viewer

That's one of the reasons why I gave up my ATI TV Wonder Pro for a WinTV-PVR 150, the ATI'll go to my other PC downstairs, and then we'll have a downstairs HTPC as well as this main HTPC in my room. Since we're networked together on a 10/100, we'll be able to share TV files with each other a little more easily, and be able to burn shows onto VCDs and DVDs off each other's HTPC, that'll be sweet.
