[REQUEST]: TVTome support

I'm not sure how possible this is for Snapstream themselves to do, but I think it would be really nice if the filenames were somehow pulled from data at Tvtome or at least of similar accuracy (i.e. not Showname-somedatehere.mpg but rather Showname - 2x07.mpg or something like that. It would make a lot of Meedio's users lives a lot easier. Plus it would just make sense in general for anyone.

Re: [REQUEST]: TVTome support

Uknow, i was thinking that other day.

For example, Let's say you have a series. and they are listed just by name but they have different record dates. But the record dates are out of sequence. How do you know what to watch and in what order?

The show name 2x07 makes better sense than just show name and show date. For those that don't know, the 2x means 2nd season and the 07 means episode 7 (I think that's right).

I wonder if they can implement something.

Re: [REQUEST]: TVTome support

I remember this being discussed (support for season/series and the ability to import data) during the 3.5 beta testing. It didn't make the cut, but I hope that they are still considering it. Also seems like a good plug in candidate

Re: [REQUEST]: TVTome support

I, too, would love to see the actual filenames work in this format:

SxxExx - Showname.mpg

Re: [REQUEST]: TVTome support

I also agree. It would also be nice if we could have the ability to rename recorded shows from either of the interfaces.

Re: [REQUEST]: TVTome support

I name my shows by hand like this

Show Name-Ep#-(Ep Title)

Family Guy-202-(Holy Crap).Mpg

So yeah some type of rename utility sort of what they use for mp3 tags would be nice.

Re: [REQUEST]: TVTome support

I don't want a rename utility as much as I just want the show to be named in some standard format that TvTome can recognize. <SeriesName> - <EpisodeName>.mpg, <SeriesName> - S<SeasonNumber>E<EpisodeNumber>.mpg, etc.

Re: [REQUEST]: TVTome support

The TVTome Series and Episodes Numbers are very handy, but my concern is SnapStream may not even be recieving this data from it's listings feed source. Otherwise they may be tossing it out because I did not catch those values in the SS database. My guess is that the rename utility route may be the best approach for this - unless SS comes forward and takes an official stance on your request.

Otherwise, would a rename utility be something useful to you? Maybe you can make a developer request for one in the developer forum.

BTW do you also use televisionwithoutpity or just TVTome?

Good Luck

Re: [REQUEST]: TVTome support

I se Meedio which has a plugin called TVOD (TV On Demand) which imports locally stored video files based on filename and then cross-references that with TVTome. This gives me ALL the data from TVTome about all my episodes I archive. Pretty darn cool.

Re: [REQUEST]: TVTome support

That seems very handy. How well does it do in cross-references? I wonder if someone can do the same here.

Re: [REQUEST]: TVTome support

I am using Meedio and the TVOD plugin. So far it has only had minor problems with TV series recorded by BTV. The series name and Episode name are sufficient because of a config option allowing substitutions for series names that don't match the TVTome format. I have also had a few multipart episodes that I simply renamed the file and all was fine. Not seamless, but not painful either.

Re: [REQUEST]: TVTome support

BTVBuddy again, trying to wrap up my development on a new application. OK so back to TVTome support. So filenames are standardized to show-series#-ep# but does anyone know if this is a worldwide broadcast standard? Do all tvshows send a series# and episode# in their data listings? I understand how this can be done manually, you watch the show and see the episode title and lookup the series number. But how would this be done automatically? Also if a show is broken up into two files (part1 & 2) how is this handled? Just trying to better grasp how this would be done.

Cheers

Re: [REQUEST]: TVTome support

Viddio,
It's just a matter of what information you have to begin with. If you had the EpisodeName and the SeriesName, you could easily cross-reference that in TVTome for the season and episode numbers. It's all a matter of having the right info.
