BTV Link - can't find server...but it's out there!

Hello all,
I can reach the server directly via a browser, but running BTV Link gives me the message "Sorry, but no Beyond TV servers could be found on the local network." My only options at that point are to exit or refresh.

Any ideas what the problem is? I do have ZoneAlarm running on the server PC, but as I said before, I can reach the server directly via a browser.

I had the same issue. I am not sure exactly what the problem is...but I got around it by connecting to a file share on the same machine my server is on. Once I had established the file-based connection, BTV link found the server no problem.

Leads me to think it might be a security related issue.

It probably is ZoneAlarm causing your problems, are you reaching the host PC via port 80 or one of the admin paths?

It turns out I'm not running ZoneAlarm on this PC...yet. Usually I put it on there, but must have overlooked it this time. So, it's not ZoneAlarm.

Also, I created a mapped drive to one of the Medai PC's shared drives but that didn't work either.

Do you have to be in the same workgroup?

you may have to be in the same workgroup. A workaround that might work if you are not in the same workgroup is to specify the ip address of the host machine in the shortcut to link.

I don’t remember the exact syntax and I tried a couple searches and couldn’t seem to come up with it. But its going to be something like

btvd3dshell.exe /network:192.168.1.101
