DVB Support!!!!

Does ANYONE know ANYTHING about when we can get DVB card support? I would hate to have to go with Showshifter. I have about 3 friends also wanting this and asking my advice. Please, some answers? Or even just an idea, is it coming and maybe some idea when?

TechnoTrend/Hauppauge cards are very popular here in Europe. TechnoTrend has a common api too I understand. SS could pick up support for MANY cards quickly and make a huge customer base happy if they would just put some time to this!!!

Re: DVB Support!!!!

I don't know what Snapstreams plans for DVB card support are but I know a few people that have gone MythTV as that has support for DVB-T cards and they also get there UK listings through the DVB as well.

I guess it depends if you are prepared to deal with the Linux side of it or not.

Re: DVB Support!!!!

Bump.
Unbelievable that it is so impossible to even get a response from SS about this. As someone who deals with requirements management around a service that is global, I have to say that lack of answers or communication, even if the answer is not what someone wants to necessarily hear, is unacceptable.

Re: DVB Support!!!!

From what I have read about this topic over the months I have had BTV, the answer is a resounding NOT PLANNING TO.!!!!

I gather you are not in the US? I am in Australia, and DVB-T cards are quite popular. BTV isn't though.

I guess it comes back to the fact that most people in the US have cable or satalite services. And lets face it, SS BTV3 is designed for the US market. They really don't give a stuff about the rest of the world!!!! I guess they have enough problems to sort out without dealing with international issues too.

Re: DVB Support!!!!

Please see our FAQ regarding "requests for official response".

Thank you.

Edit: Here it is from the FAQ link at the top of the forum pages:

"3) Demands for "Official Response"- Please do not post to the board thinking that your requests/demands regarding a feature you want or want changed will be heard or even responded to by the developers. The developers do not patrol the boards regularly, and may miss any suggestions you have. Instead, file a technical support request and it will be forwarded to a developer for review. The same goes for Technical Support issues you may have. "
