So, can I do the following with SnapStream products??

Hi, I have a sat receiver upstairs. I wish to get the signal to the basement (2 floors down, no way to get cables down there).

My plan: Build a HTPC upstairs, with a Hauppage PVR250 card and wireless internett (G) + UIRT Blaster(?) to switch channels.

Build two other HTPC, one for the first floor, one for the basement, that has wireless G, and Tv-Out. I guess I need a couple of Firefly remotes as well?

Wish to Achieve the following, when using these pc's on the first floor and basement:
-See Live tv from Sat receiver on 2nd floor.
-Remote Control must work to switch channels
-Access media on a 4th computer, like mp3, ripped dvd's, and jpegs

PS: I have the Dish Network 510 receiver, I believe (DVR).

Thanks, please let me know if this is feasible. What products do I need on each machine? I.e. where do I need Beyond Tv, Beyond TV Link and/or Beyond Media?

-Tom

if your wireless network is up to it; then you would just need to have the pvr250 + btv running on the upstairs server.

Then downstairs install btv link clients for each viewer. Alternatively you might want to think about something like the mediamvp for a 'thin' client approach - but it's not quite so robust imho.

If you use BTV link you won't need a remote for your main HTPC; only the blaster to control the sat dish (unless it has a serial port but I don't believe dish receivers do).

To access media, you would probably wind up with something like BM or meedio. or just browsing the directories - depending on your choice of interface.

You might also want to think about using the cheaper PVR150 cards;

Otherwise it sounds like you've pretty much got it figured out ok.
