Other hardware encoders

I've had tons of problems with my PVR-250 on the Nforce3 250GB chipset/6800GT. I had a MSI K8N board that gave me an error code 10. Then I replaced it with a DFI UT 250GB board. It does the same thing This same card worked on my Intel board. After I get around to re-installing again I'm going to RMA it. Anyway, I was wondering if there were other hardware decoder options. I'm looking at the Canopus ACEDVIO card. Does anyone have experience with it? I don't use the TV tuner, my input is S-video to a cable box.

Re: Other hardware decoders

IFYM hardware encoder not decoder?

(encoder would be the capture side that compresses video, decoder would be on the display side which decompresses the mpeg2.)

Isn't error code 10 a resource assignment issue?

Oops. The Canopus does hardware encoding. Although it is *supposed* to be a $300 card. Most go for under $200 on ebay. I've been emailing back and forth with the guy. Nothing I've tried has fixed it so far. Its been in all but 1 PCI slot , 2 motherboards, 3-4 different driver sets and 5-6 fresh installs of windows. There is a possibility the other PCI slot will help. Others mentioned having to put it in the slot next to the AGP card. I'm planning on putting a VGA silencer on my 6800GT.
