Harddrive space

On my Beyond TV server, I have 3 harddisks installed.

I'll have to check every time if there's enough space on drive x, if not I change the recordings folder to another drive.

Why can't this be done automatically?

Say, you have drive C,D,E configured in Beyond TV. When recording, Beyond TV checks the first drive/path, in this case c:\. If there's to little space, it should automatically check d:\ and or E:\ and save the recording to that drive instead.

Re: Harddrive space

Nice, but looking a bit further down the road - isn't this just putting off the inevitable? Eventually you need a strategy to handle running out of space on all 3 disks.

I personally seperate out my recording jobs across 2 drives, and use max num of shows to rotate around each job. I set the file size / max num of jobs so that my disk never actually runs out of space unless I specifically have some 'must keep' jobs I'm waiting to burn to dvd (say movies or a series of a show)

Re: Harddrive space

I am in the middle of adding a second tuner with the new 3.5 version and would like to set it up to record one video source to one folder/drive and the other video source to another folder/drive. Does anyone know if this is possible? I want to do this for two reasons. One just to spread out the recordings and two to increase the performance on the drives. Is this possible?

Thanks,
Mike

Re: Harddrive space

good solution is to use dynamic disks, and just span across x number of disks. As you need more space, throw in another one and span again. Can do this as many times as you like, until you physically can't shove any more drives in the machine.
