Picture Quality vary good but ?
I have been Re-evaluating my Tv output from Snapstream using directv svideo as my source feeding a PVR-250 hardware encoding card set to the best recording setting. Now my picture is vary good from snapstream but its not quite as good as the original signal using my satellite out directoy to the TV. The difference is subtle but noticable. I get a sort fo glassy picture with the skin textures matted and high motion scenes are not quite as fluid. I have tried every tweak I can find here and elswere.
I am wondering if maybe my video card is not quite up to standard as I use a GF3-Ti-200 and TV tool to set the overscan to the screen. I have also tried numerous custom video capture settings and all of the standard Codecs. I am presently using NVDVD as it seems to use the least cpu resources for me but none of the others made much diference. I also am using Overlay mode as 3D excelerated made the text look horrible. I am thinking of getting a GF-5200 video card to try and see if it maybe has a better output. Is there really anyting to be gained by changing or am I just shooting for the moon. I do not use this HTPC-PVR for any gaming so I am just looking for the best possible TV output to a Standard Def TV using svideo.
I want to make the switch to using Snapstream full time for both live and recorded programming but everytime I switch over to my PVR output my wife says she likes the unprocessed signal from my Direct TV reciever better and complains. So I am looking for some advice as to how to close the gap.
Thanks, Dave
