How to change default directories/drives

Greetings one and all.
I have been looking for the last two days the correct method to change default settings in BTV3.5. I installed it to my WinXP Pro Program Files but I want the actual working directories to be located on a different drive (one that has 160 gigs of space). I can't seem to find out how to do this. Can anyone point me to the answer or a link that will explain the process? I think this version is terrific now that it supports my MSI video card! Earlier versions wouldn't even install but this one appears to have all I need, as long as I can tell it where I want to put the files. ))
Thanx for your assistance.
Respectfully,
Aurelius

For one, use a smaller font. Secondly, read this thread:
Where is web admin?

Re: How to change default directories/drives

Sorry about the size of text. I just used the defaults and never really pay it no nevermind. )) Thanx your information was excellent. I never even heard of the web admin. I perused right past it thinking it had something to do with this web site and support. )) Thanx again.

Respectfully,

Re: How to change default directories/drives

One more question (if you please), I can add a new download directory by using the web admin program. What I can't figure out is how to assign this new directory as the default directory so I can get rid of the initial default directory. I might have missed it but I don't see anything in the way of a 'default' assignment button or similar. The program states that inorder to delete the original 'default' directory, I have to assign the default status to another directory but it doesn't spell out what that process is. Can you give me a shove??

Respectfully,
Aurelius

Re: How to change default directories/drives

You set the default video folder in Web Admin->Settings->Recording Preferences. Once you change it to your new folder you can go back and delete the original default folder.

Re: How to change default directories/drives

I've done that, but the notation "(Default)" did not transfer to new, single directory that I changed it to. Also every single time I start the BTV program I receive an error message telling me that I have only enough room for 4 hours. This is even after I have changed the only directory listing to the drive with 150 gigs of space. I don't know if it is really recognizing the new directory (even though it says it does) because of this constant recurring error that basically refers back to the original default listing (the one established by the setup program.) Any ideas on this one?
As an addendum, I never got a chance to 'delete' the original directory. It just disappeared when I changed it to reflect the location on the empty drive.

Thanx much in advance.
Respectfully,
Aurelius

Re: How to change default directories/drives

Web Admin.
Settings
Video Folder Management.

Create 1 new folder (that will become your new default folder).
Go back to the same screen (Video Folder Management) to ensure it exists.

Then, Settings, Recording Preferences.
Under Video Folder, select your new video folder.

Back to Video Forlder Management.
Now your new folder should say (default) next to it.
Delete the old folder.

Re: How to change default directories/drives

Thank you Eric, this helped me a lot. Now if I can just get the issue with recordings being cut in to 30 min segements sorted out, I might not have to get MCE2005 instead.

Thanks Micael

Re: How to change default directories/drives

I have a partitioned hard drive and I installed btv to d:. But when I record, and try to play back, it says the recording can't be found in the c:/docs and settings, etc. There's no way, short of this web admin thing, to change the directory of the recording?

Also, if in installed to the d partition, why is the default recording still going to c?

I'd appreciate any help that could be offered!

Thanks!
