Thumbs up BeyondTV 3.5 with Trial BeyondTV Link and Wireless DLink

Just some general comments on using 3.5 with BeyondTV Link on a wireless Dlink-624 network.

Upgraded to 3.5 and I do like some of the newly integrated functionality but it seems like it came at a price. Keystrokes on some items, specifically the program guide have slowed down quite a bit but the functions do work and the recording of shows is still good.

Read that others had problems with Dlink 624 routers with BeyondTV Link but since Snapstream was good to offer a 21 day trial, I thought I would give it a chance. Made a restore point on my Win XP laptop that is wirelessly connected to my office desktop PC.

All went without a blink of the eye. Live TV streams just fine. It even seems that the program guide on my laptop works a little faster than my desktop.

Not sure what direction I'm going yet with the link version. $40.00 is a bit much to pay when my main reason for link was to get a "pretty" way to set up recording from the kitchen.

Just wanted to share my experience with others.

Here's my setup if you're wondering how it's all working.

My PC Pentium 4 2.53, 768RAM, Win XP Home, 120gb internal 120gb external harddrive, Dlink 624 Router, Laptop one floor down in my house connected wirelessly with a Dlink 650G card. Viewing of prerecorded shows is done on one of these PCs or on my Prismiq box in the basement connect via Cat 5e line to the router on the second floor.

Re: BeyondTV 3.5 with Trial BeyondTV Link and Wireless DLink

Just a FYI, For those having throughput issues with the Dlink 624, I noticed that they released new firmware. I have been running the recent Beta release and it has been good for me. I have downloaded these(released this month) but have not installed these, this weekends project for me. Anyways if you are having unsatisfactory results with yours these might be worth a chance.

I am using the later router/cards revC/ revB my wireless consists of 2 notebooks, my HTPC box, 1 PocketPC, 1 Gateway networked DVD(wireless version) and a HAUP MVP that is viewed from the PVR box by its wireless connection with Best(DVD Ready) profile
