Re: Medusa PVR

Don't forget the hidden costs.

6 x BTV Link licenses ($40) = $240

Cool

I wonder if it's cheaper than one of these.

Re: Medusa PVR

If you read the Medusa PVR details, it says they added the six cards at once then pressed OK a bunch a times to the Found New Hardware prompts. Wow, SO brave! So, lucky it worked (I mean it was XP right?) I wonder how many New Hardware and driver prompts for a 6 PVR500 setup. Sounds Crazy!

Re: Medusa PVR

ticklemeozmo-

you forgot that two of those licences were included with the purchase price of btv.

but, when it is time to upgrade to btv4 (not to open that can of worms, or anything), are they going to have to buy 4 more licences?

probably too early to get a true response on this topic, but before i buy several licences, it would be nice to know what time frame we can expect these to last.

archie

ps great work on 3.5 snapstream!

He was being uhh, a smartass talking about link, not the tuner licensees. Technicaly if you purchase the tuners from Snapstream they include free tuner licensees.

Way to early to start that conservation , I wouldn't worry much about it.

I don't believe that Medusa had a video card with video out on it.

[edit:]rakesh responded at same time, so slightly modifying post[/edit]

Well, the price could be included within the "whitebox" computer. But any videocard with TV out and DX9 support will give pretty much the same performance. For example in regards to BTV: GeForceFX5200 = GeForceFX5900 Ultra.

Obviously you want to buy the best you can afford so that it can handle other applications and future-proofing it. But no need to grab a $499.99 card or anything.
