Planning Guide for 3.5 ??

Perhaps someone can pen a planning guide for the new 3.5 version. I placed a post a week ago with this request and can't find it on the board anywhere.

Specifically, some must be puzzled about the 2nd card. I've had a second PVR250 in a box for a month. What's the order of install of the hardware (PVR250) and software (version 3.5)? Any recommendations.

I've also got a AIW 8500 as the video card, but the software encoder shows up during install as a legitimate capture device. Will I be offered the opportunity to choose the two Hauppage cards as the 2 permitted devices? Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Michael

I am sure that the official announcement will contain some level of instruction. At a high level, you will need to install the tuners/drivers first, then just run the setup wizard

Re: Planning Guide for 3.5 ??

How about the tuning of the different tuners. I am using a DLL that I found on the Snapstream web site, it was for tuning through Girder. I slightly modified it but the prototype of the original function is as follow

BOOL SetTunerFrequency(DWORD dwChannel, DWORD dwBroadcastType, DWORD dwFrequency)

BroadcastType is always 0 and frequency is always 0 as well. Channel contains the channel number to tune. How will that changes with two or multiples tuners ? Anybody knows ? I want to make sure that my DLL will continue working if I install 3.5.

Thanks in advance

Tuning will change, is my understanding, and your DLL will no longer be needed.

I'm specifically wondering about the 2nd PVR250, now sitting in a box. When do I install this: *Before* the software upgrades? *After* the software upgrades?

By the way, I upgraded the ATI drivers yesterday. Not fun: It took four hours and SS didn't work correctly until the latest drivers from its web page were installed as well, plus lots and lots of re-tweaking...

During the betas, I have done it both ways:
  • Installed both tuners/drivers and then run the setup.
  • Installed the first tuner, run setup, shut down, installed the second tuner, run setup again.
I don't if there is a perferred method, but both work.
