Hauppauge TV viewing better than BTV

Can anyone help explain why my Hauppauge 250 bundle software gives a better picture than BTV? I tried changing the BTV settings but to no avail...Hauppauge is definitely better. Also, if I change the screen resolution (in windows) when in BTV, viewing playbacks will skip..then I have to reboot. Shutting down BTV won't do it, a reboot is required...

Thx for any help! JP

Re: Hauppauge TV viewing better than BTV

If you can post your PC specs we can see what the best settings may be for your situation.

When you first install BTV it sets the qualities and settings to something a bit lenient so that the program will run smoothly on all systems; however, with a few settings changed you can get better quality and performance IF your system has the horsepower to do it that is.

Take a look at the link in my sig for setting up BTV and see if any of your hardware may apply, its mainly for ATI video cards and hauppauge PVR250's. Mostly take note of the custom recording resolutions, these help a ton on PQ; however, again you have to have the horsepower to do it.

Re: Hauppauge TV viewing better than BTV

Thx for the feedback..wow, there's a lot to digest! BTV is not a turnkey system!

I did some tweeking and finally got a much better result with BTV when compared to hauppauge 250.

I have a Dell Optiplex GX240-1.7ghz, 256MBRAM, Maxtor 120GB HD, NVidea G-Force 2 - 32MB Ram.

I have some questions re. your ref. links but will continue my education and to post more intelligent questions.

Thx for your help! JP
