Opera Browser? MSN-TV?
Opera Software released a new version of its browser technology Thursday, aimed at surfing Web pages on television sets. The software is designed primarily for use with advanced set-top boxes that facilitate interactive TV services. That market is still in its infancy, with cable companies in the United States and Europe moving more slowly toward interactive services than once expected.
Microsoft is moving close to a new release of its MSN TV, a successor to the old Web TV system, which allows Web surfing over a television set. The articles are here: http://news.com.com/Opera+browsing,+...j=news.1032.20 http://news.com.com/Microsoft+gives+...51.html?tag=nl

Re: Opera Browser? MSN-TV?
BTV support within Opera is better than it used to be...but could still use a little work...
I much prefer the Opera interface and on-the-fly rerendering to IE (I can keep the program guide as big as I want and shrink/expand as I choose).

Re: Opera Browser? MSN-TV?
Opera is truly awesome. Its just a shame that people don't believe in paying for browsers. The on-the-fly rendering simply can't be beat (for those wondering what the heck we're talking about, I discuss it here (with screens and samples): http://www.monroeworld.com/reviews/o...ling/index.htm
I, too, would like to see better BTV server support in Opera. Unfortuantely, as long as Microsoft is in charge, .NET will always render Opera pages as "Generic HTML" (despite the fact it can do 99% of what IE can) - and since they are using .NET for the file server, I think we're screwed, bro. Microsoft likes its monopolies.
