Question about 3.5 announcement..

Why does it say in the announcement "Beyond TV will enable 2 tuners for free" as if 3.5 will be limited to 2 tuners without an additional purchase? As far as I can recall, 3.5 has been promoted as being "multi-tuner compatable" and not "dual-tuner compatable".

Re: Question about 3.5 announcement..

it says that because thats the case.

It IS multi tuner compatible. You can have as many as you want. But you have to pay an extra fee for each tuner over 2.

I think its cheesy to do it that way, but thats the way they've chosen.

Re: Question about 3.5 announcement..

Any idea what the charge is for more than 2 tuners?

Re: Question about 3.5 announcement..

They are also charging for the clients as well. I'd rather pay for each tuner than for each client.

Either way, we're getting a great deal. Think of all those poor Tivo users paying every month for their precious PVR.

You may have money, but you're limited out-of-date technology in Tivo means you're poor in the sense of "too bad for him". That kind of poor. No debate there.

Not to defend TiVO, but I paid $199 for a lifetime subscription like 5 years ago so it came out to just over $3.00/mo. I gave it to my parents about a year ago, and the box just died last week.

But like another guy said the technology in TiVO is extremely dated, and once you buy a box your stuck with that technology. My TiVO when it died could only hold about 12 hours of videos at normal quality. My BTV Box holds several hundred hours of the highest quality setting.
