repair skippy mpg

I recorded a segment of the Olympics while my PC was defragging, at 3AM, and the mpg is watchable but I can't burn it to DVD. When I use DVDAuthor the program falls out after a minute or so. I have tried regenerating the mpg using Studio 8 but the sound is way off after an hour, but it is watchable.

I have demuxed the video and sound in rejig and the two parts appear good, but they won't remux/reauthor using rejig.

How can I repair the mpg to remux it with the (mpa) sound. There must be a utility to correct missing frames or whatever is causing my present grief. (And, by the way, what is causing my present grief?

Thank you, I'll be here all week. Try the fish.

Seriously, that's the answer. Try something like TMPEG or Nero Vision Express to remux or burn.

Re: repair skippy mpg

I have used tmpgec and it fails to make a good dvd. I have used Studio to try to recompile the mpg with no success.

Is there a utility that will replace bad frames or? that I can use?

Re: repair skippy mpg

Dropped frames is what's causing your problems, at 30fps drop only 300 frames and you've dropped 10 seconds of audio, with defragging it was probably much, much more, so for the most part your probably SOL when it comes to salvaging it.
You could try Virtualdub mod to check for/remove bad frames, then remux with Womble Mpg-VCR(you can choose the output).Mpg-Vcr also has an audio time offset feature to help re-sync audio.
