cannot see recordings on remote samba drive

I've been kinda pullling my hair out over this so I'm hoping someone can help me. I have an HTPC in the living room which is doing the encoding/decoding and is writing to a hard drive in the basement. The basement computer is running samba on top of linux and the HTPC has a folder mounted (think p:\television) this was done so i could run a 600GB RAID array downstairs without having the turbine effect in the living room.

Now to the problem.... New shows won't show up until I restart the BTV service. It plays shows happily and records shows without errors, but the new recordings never show up in the 'recordings' window until I restart either the BTV service or the HTPC itself.

After reading this (http://kb.snapstream.com/?kbid=86&p_...b3JhZ2U*&p_li=)
KB article 86, I started thinking it had something to do with 'change notification' settings, but I'm not getting ANY errors in my BTV log!

According to the article, BTV can manually scan the folder every 5 minutes looking for new shows. Is there a way to manually force this to happen? Can anybody else think of any ideas? is anybody else running samba successfully in this fashion?

Thank you guys!!

Re: cannot see recordings on remote samba drive

I use a samba drive, but I only put the showsqueeze files to it. BTV eventually finds these files after it scans it. If you need instant gratification on the file being there, I don't know how to make it scan at more intervals.
