Xvid Capture

Yet antother user who is suggesting that btv support xvid.

Currently I'm encoding at 640x480 WMV at a high bitrate, then i encode it down to 480x360 to a lower quality bitrate using windows media encoder...The videos come out extremely good. But, WMV is just too hard to manage...Its hard to manipulate, takes several times longer to encode then xvid, and the quality is slightly lower than xvid.

Re: Xvid Capture

I'd like xvid too. I'd like to get away from the wmv format. I understand I could always just use some other program to convert the mpegs, but i like the automatic showsqueeze idea and being able to tell btv to showsqueeze a particular file without having to exit the program and open some other program. Maybe it would be beneficial for them to put some code in that will allow the user to use whatever codecs they have on their computer, then if some other format comes along that is an absolute miracle, we could switch to it without needing to bug the developers anymore. I'm not certain that's possible, but think it should be. Anyways...

Re: Xvid Capture

Xvid is much better than WM9 even for the fact that i can play my recorded files on my standalone Yamada or KISS DP-450 player!
although the hacked Microsoft Mpeg4 codec can be used if you can get hold of that
