PVR 250 Sharing IRQ

PVR250 installed today with driver on Hauppauge disk. I put it in the bottom PCI slot. When I checked IRQ I found it's sharing it with my Sound Blaster Live sound card. Will this most likely be a problem or just possibly? I haven't gotten any further as I'm waiting on cables. Anyone Know the combos to avoid? I'll appreciate time taken to answer this one.

Re: PVR 250 Sharing IRQ

It will probably cause a problem creative labs devices particularly live and audigy devices are very very picky about sharing irq's and on some via based chipsets it can actually cause disk / data corruption

Re: PVR 250 Sharing IRQ

Well I shuffled 3 cards around(sound, Pvr250 & USB 2.0/Firewire Combo) but now my sound card is sharing IRQ 19 with my Nvidia 4200 Graphics card! That won't fly will it? I put the PVR 250 in PCI 2( can't really put it in PCI 1 as it would block the fan on vidio card) Have sound card in PCI 4 & USB 2.0/1394 card in PCI 5. Now what? Can't I just assign an IRQ to the sound card or is that not a good deal? Here's the PCI/Irq Arrangement as of now. Video card AGP slot 19
empty PCI 1
PVR 250 PCI 2 16
empty PCI 3
Sound Card PCI 4 19
USB2/1394 PCI 5 19

Re: PVR 250 Sharing IRQ

I moved the sound card up to PCI 3 which gave it IRQ 17. I hope that does it. Still sharing Graphics card with 1394Firewire. I only hope it doesn't screw up when I"m downloading Mini DV Camera to computer on Firewire. Learned somethin today. Thanks Robert, Ted

New PnP systems share IRQ's. I've seen systems with practically EVERYTHING on the same IRQ. Don't worry about it unless your having problems with your computer.

Re: PVR 250 Sharing IRQ

I had problems with my Creative SoundBlaster and Broadcom onboard NIC fighting for the same IRQ. In theory, they should play nice on the same interrupt, but I was getting typical IRQ symptoms (buzzy sound, mouse locking up, NIC acting screwy). I moved the Soundblaster to a different PCI slot and all has been well since.
