Full screen on Extended Desktop

Please help...

I have my computer hooked up to my big screen tv as an extention of my primary 19 inch display. Is there a way to get Beyond TV to work full screen on the secondary (big screen) desktop? If I try to go full screen it shoots it back to my 19 inch monitor and not the big screen. The only way I've been able to do it is to use the clone mode options under ATI's control panel wich sucks because I have to change the settings everytime before I launch Beyond TV.

Specs:

WindowsXP pro SP1
64bit AMD 3200+
ATI Radeon 9800XT
SB Audigy2ZS Platinum
1GB DDR400
+some crappy drives

Re: Full screen on Extended Desktop

Which monitor is set as your 'primary' monitor? On mine, I have to change my 120' projector to be my primary monitor in order to see any video on it in most modes.

Re: Full screen on Extended Desktop

I have to set my 19 in monitor to primary and the big screen as secondary. Most programs work fine this way (PowerDVD, Win MediaPlayer, WinTV 2000 for example). Beyond TV won't seem to do it though. Unfortunatly the big screen is kinda old and certian things like text don't show up well enough to use it as the primary monitor.

Then set both monitors as primary.

Eric3a... Ummmm.... how do you suggest I do that? Maybe it's just me as I am new to this kind of configuration... but I'm not sure that setting "both monitors as primary" is even possible (with the exception of clone mode).

oh, and let me add that tuner card to my specs above: Hauppauge PVR-250

Re: Full screen on Extended Desktop

the problem is that beyondtv uses directx to render its interface and video, as a result it will not function properly on a device that isnt primary so unless you set the second output as primary or you use clone mode you will not be able to get full screen full motion video on that display.

Re: Full screen on Extended Desktop

If you are using an ATI card for your primary display, you can use hot keys to swap back and forth between clone mode and extended desktop. I do at least. CTRL-ALT-D for "default" mode and CTRL-ALT-T for "TV" mode. I'm using a Radeon 9800, but it should be the same for any radeon if you are using the Catalyst drivers.

Re: Full screen on Extended Desktop

I have put the beta on an Asus Pundit(with the dreaded onboard SIS650 which with the new drivers and overlay mode is very usable!) that I had put together a while ago and I am able to run extended desktop with the VGA as primary and TV secondary. I moved the FSUI over to the secondary display and made full screen. It even remembers to launch there when I relaunch the FSUI.

So does it run from the secondary monitor because I have it running in Overlay mode(which doesn't explain the FSUI running) or is it the way SIS drives the secondary display? Or has something changed in the FSUI as I could not do this on my other PC with a Nvidia 440se when I tried a while ago(pre beta)?

Re: Full screen on Extended Desktop

Ok, well it's looking to me like my best option is to simply make the big screen my primary display. The only problem with that is that certian apps allways open there and are consequently less readable (aps like taskbar notifications from messenger clients, et cetera). Ok, so maybe I'm picky but all my other programs work fine in both primary and secondary modes. If PowerDVD and WinTV can do it both ways, Beyond TV should find a way as well. Thank you but I'm not sure I'll keep it after the trial is finnished.
