Upgrade to 250 PVR wasn't easy...

Well, it might have been, but it is highly recommended to use the setup wizard right? Anyways, I was upgrading from an ATI 9800 AIW to a WinTV 250 PVR card for the tuner and recording. I install the card, install the drivers, install the apps as well even though I wont be using them. Test the apps, and TV works great. Hardly any CPU usage during timeshifting...excellent.

Now I have to reconfig BTV...run the setup wizard. Go through everything, select the WinTV driver...check sound...no sound on anything...fine. I will troubleshoot this later. Click next..."Cannot build graph..." Search the forums. I need the latest driver for the card. I HAVE the latest driver for the card.

So, I start to uninstall things looking for a conflict. Get rid of SP2 for XP since it is beta. Still no dice. Upgrade to the latest Creative Audigy 2 drivers, no go. I am perplexed since the WinTV2000 app works just fine.

Screw it...start up BTV, go into WebAdmin, and change the video device to the WinTV card. Restart BTV, and VOILA...everything works.

SOooooo, now the questions:

Why would the setup wizard not work?

Did I lose anything by not using the setup wizard?

I don't know why the live tv graph or sound doesn't work for the PVR-250.
The problem you described happened to me, I just ignored it, and it works just as well.

I just followed this guide and I was able to upgrade from my all-in-wonder with no problems. Worked perfectly from the start.
