Please help - "No Information Available" for channels

I recently switched off some MS services, using services.msc, following some of the advice on blackviper.com and tweaksguides.com. My computer is running better for it, but now there is a "no information available" on each channel when watching live tv. When I cleck on "Guide" while watching live tv now, "Unavailable" shows up for every channel.

I have tried to figure out what I shut off that is preventing snapstream from accessing this information, but I haven't been able to track it down yet. Does anyone know what services need to be active for snapstream to access channel information from the web? Because it can't access info from the web regarding channel lineup, SS doesn't appear to be able to start scheduled recording.

Thanks,

Richard

Re: Please help - "No Information Available" for channels

RobertH - Sorry, I don't understand your post. The channel information was available before I altered some of the services settings, and now it's not. I don't use HDTV and have made not changes to my cable provider.

I was hoping someone might be able to tell me what services SS requires to access the web in order to cause channel information to appear when watching live tv.

Thanks,

Richard

Yea it seems RobertH typed a post and then sent it to the wrong thread. This is actually a response that was intended for a thread in the beta forum.

Re: Please help - "No Information Available" for channels

if you rerun the beyondtv setup wizard does it prompt you to logon/signup for a .net account like it should do?

one thing you can try is looking back over those guides, turn on all the services they tell you to shut off then go back one by one and see wich one kills guide access (just have btv do a forced update and see if it fails) then you will know wich ones, however I dont think that btv relys on any specific services except maybe the crypto services cause they use an HTTPS link over the .net connection

Re: Please help - "No Information Available" for channels

RobertH - Thanks a lot. I hadn't realized that the snapstream.net settings could be changed until I got your response. I went into the webadmin snapstream.net settings and clicked on "download channel lineup," and now all the info is there. It's set to allow automatic updates, but I'll see if a change I made is interfering with this later.

In the meantime, the problem's solved in a record half an hour. Now I know a little bit more about SS, too. Thanks for you help.

Cheers,

Richard

There is a "known" issue with some installs of 3.4 not doing automatic updates, this has been fixed for 3.5 wich is currently in beta.

Re: Please help - "No Information Available" for channels

Well, mine worked for the longest time, but the last few weeks I've had to keep re-installing BTV every week to get my channel lineup to work.

VERY frustrating that's the only thing that will fix it.

VERY frustrating that's the only thing that will fix it. If I try to force a manual update, it just sits at '5%' and sucks up all my network bandwidth.

Re: Please help - "No Information Available" for channels

I thought I had it fixed, but the the channel lineup has stoppoed downloanding again. Now I can't set SS to record anything. Any suggestions other than reinstalling the thing? Any work on a fix might be out? Date for 3.5?
