Help- I Can not view live tv from a remote pc

I have just purchased bTV3 specifically so i can watch live TV remotely from an internet conected pc.

Everything is installed and working except...

I can hit the administration page on port 8129 from internet explorer. but cant hit the "live tv feed" on port 8080.

I have confirmed that the server is enbaled, and have confirmed i have no Firewall issues.

Does anyone no what is happening?

You wouldn't happen to be using a PVR-250 would you? BTV doesn't support LiveTV streaming through the web interface with a hardware encoder.

Of to buy a new tv card.... when i do get it sorted, am i correct in thinking that the way to display the live stream is to go to a remote pc, use internet explorer to browse to the port 8080 in the same way that i use the web admin on port 8129?


Then i should see the live stream?

No, actually you will go to the same address as you would on the local machine (as far as port numbers are concerned) and then click watch, and then on the left there will be a link to ‘watch live tv’.

For example if the machine with BTV installed has the ip address of 192.168.1.100 then on the remote machine you would type http://192.168.1.100:8129 to access the web admin.

Also, depending on your setup you can type http://pcname and if btv’s port forwarder is on then it will redirect you to the appropriate address (http://pcname:8129 or http://ip_number:8129)

If your network uses dynamic IP addressing you'd be better off to use the http://pcname:8129 instead of the http://ip_number:8129. Otherwise if you shut down the LAN or power off all the pc's (on purpose or accidently) you still be able to access the pc you want to watch from.

In your ealier post you said to watch LIve TV via a internet connected PC. So you need to use http://ip_number:8129 . ip_number of your internet connection not of the PC that is running BTV. You will also need to forward teh ports to teh correct PC if you are running a home network.

Using a remote web-browser




In the browser's address field, type http://<IP Address>:8129 where <IP Address> is the IP Address of the machine on which Beyond TV is running. For example, a user at a computer in their home office can make a configuration change on the computer running Beyond TV in the media room by accessing it over a home network. The user would enter http://192.168.1.122:8129 in office computer web-browser




Note: In order to use all functionality available in the Beyond TV Web Admin interface, the following ports must be open in any firewall between you and your Beyond TV server. Please see your firewall manufacturer documentation for instructions on opening these ports.



Port 8129: Beyond TV uses this port for remote accessibility.

Port 1755: Beyond TV uses this port to stream recorded content.

Port 8080: Beyond TV uses this port to stream live TV.






You can change the default port settings noted above and specify other ports for remote accessibility, streaming recordings or live TV. See the document Changing Port Settings.
