Thumbs down New User - dead in the H2O

I purchased BTV3 recently and tonight attempted to use it
without success.

I have no information in my program guide and attempts to
download new guide information result in a message that
a data download has begun.

Nothing happens though and I am left without a guide.

Attempts to log on to snapstream.net end up with me
being confronted with a login request for a login I know
nothing about.

After joining the forum I discover I along with many others
won't be able to encode to divx should I ever learn how to
get my BTV to operate properly.

Can someone please help this hapless soul?

I'd bet you've got a wireless network card and you're not getting a strong enough signal to communicate to the router , which means you aren't able to download guide data.

Make sure you have a strong (good) wireless signal. Reboot the PC. It'll be all good then.

A friend of mine actually had a similar problem. His issue was he didn't even have the XML folder at all, it was gone, so he created it and was set. I don't have my HTPC handy otherwise I could give more details.

Re: New User - dead in the H2O

Let's see, can't login to snapstream.net?

Gee I wonder why it can't download the program info?

You can try the 'forgot your password' link on snapstream.net

If that doesn't work for you, just email tech support and they will help you out.

As far as the divx thing goes, I have been using dr divx, I make a batch job about once a week, I kind of miss the auto recompression, but this way I don't recompress what I don't want to keep, and I have a lot more quality options.

Good luck to you.

When you ran the setup wizard, you were prompted to create a SS.net account, weren't you? These are the account details you're being prompted for. If not, I'd run the setup wizard again.

I'm assuming you are based in the US/ Canada, if you're based outside these countries then you'll need to use XMLTV and Stephane's importer to get hold of guide data.

Bah, was thinking about the snapstream.net account and then lost that train of thought. Yeah check that first for sure as mentioned above!
