PVR250 wont stop stuttering

I am just about ready to give up. I have tried everything I can find in this forum but my PVR250 won't stop stuttering.

I tried adding the custom quality level specified by festivalman

I have tried changing my drivers to 1.17.110.20150
and 1.17.21065

I moved my card to another slot

No matter what I do, the card keeps stuttering. It stutters on live tv, it stutters playing back mpeg2 recorded with the card using the software that came with it. It also uses 80-95% of the CPU which to me indicates it is not using the on-board compression.

My machine is 1.7 ghz with 512 mg ram, a Radeon VE card and fast harddrives

Is there something I missed or do I just to to write of the $50 I paid for this POS software?

Gosh... Why is everyone gets so nasty when things don't work immediately? Patience grasshopper... As far as cpu usage and on board compression, remember that the hardware compression is just for the compression, when you try to view the file it's usinga software decompression which will take lots of CPU cycles. And the higher the settings for the quality the more CPU power it will take to decompress.

The stuttering in LiveTV is a docmented issue, though others are reporting success with certian settings, but I don't believe it is a one fix for all yet.

What are you using to play back the files you've captured? What codecs do you have installed? What are the specs of the machine your using to play back with?

In defense of Snapstream.

WinTV-PVR 250/350 is not supported by V3.0. Please read the system requirements listed on the products page.

I have one as well, but this should be all discussed in the beta testing forum since that's where it should be.

Actually, while the 250 is not offically supported yet, if your using a non-beta version of the software, posts should be out here, and the beat forums are just for the beta and RC versions of the software.

Ok, agreed, but this is support for supported items.

I found that juggling your cards around in different PCI slots makes a difference sometimes.. According to the docs, the 250 needs to be in PCI slot #1 or #2.. Try it in both of these slots and try removing all non-essential cards from your system.. (You need the sound card as well, or PVS won't play back - at least, it wouldn't on mine..)

Oddly, I have the PVR in my system in the last PCI slot, and all slots are used, yet none of these issues, I'll say a prayer for my good luck.
