Vista Service Pack 2

We have confirmed a bug with Vista Service Pack 2 and Beyond TV that your audio will cut out for the whole system. At this moment, we do not recommend to install Service Pack 2 until we have resolved the issue.

Does this issue also exist for Service Pack 3?

Oops. Yep, I had XP on the mind when I read the post. Sorry, and as said so many times by Roseanne Rosanadana ...

Never mind!

I don't know if this is the specific issue encountered, but I do experience a loss of audio (occasionally, infrequently) where I'll be watching a recorded show and the sound will cut out suddenly. I have to exit the viewer and resume it. After that, it works fine.

I've noticed that it also happens when I'm playing a game (Fallout 3) and a
recording is happening (usually Colbert Report) and the sound cuts out. BTW, I record the Daily Show just prior and it has never done it then.

I have Creative Labs Titanium XFi (PCIe) with the Alchemy drivers.

Can you post more details - is it only playback and/or liveTV that has the problem (i.e. does recording still work correctly)?

Re: Vista Service Pack 2

I have SP2 installed for Vista and had the audio cut out on me last night while moving around the BTV menus but when I exited and reentered BTV the audio came right back. I will try to find out whether there are recordings going on next time audio cuts out on a few games we have.

Re: Vista Service Pack 2

we are seeing it in Live TV and during playback of recorded shows.

If it is dropping during the menu also, it definitely could be related, please submit a ticket to technical support.

Re: Vista Service Pack 2

I think I am too experiencing the issue with the xfi, however skipping forward/backward seems to get the audio working again.

Weirdly enough my Realtek is not exhibiting the issue.

I had the sound stop once while bouncing around the Setup Recordings menus. I exited BTV and reentered it and the sound was back.

Re: Vista Service Pack 2

Michael Bui,

I was just wondering what the status of this issue is? Should I open an issue with support to get whatever fix was issued? (if one has been issued) I would like to upgrade to SP2, but not until I am sure this issue is resolved.

Please advise... (and thank you for your help!)

Re: Vista Service Pack 2

Oh crap. I installed Vista on a new machine, did all the updates, bought a new sound card (because I thought that was the problem). Little did I know to look here.

I finally did trace the problem to Beyond TV. It doesn't seem to cause a problem if BTV is not running.

A fix please?

I can confirm the error on a Soundblaster Audigy and an onboard Soundmax AC97.

The audio will come back upon restart of the any program where the audio stops, but this problem is "Beyond Annoying"

On top of recording and live TV playback, it also seems to affect other players like flash and WMP that are running while BTV is running.
