2 questions: ffdshow and Hauppauge HVR-2250

Is there a way to use ffdshow? I've tried the ah, search engine and the last entry was somewhere around 3 years ago - anything new on being able to use this?

Also is there a thread on the Hauppauge HD PVR? Thinking about buying one.

FYI -

I have an HD-PVR and am still working the bugs out. I had to add cooling to the top and also tape over the IR receiver. That got me 4-5 days without a failed recording. So then I added a timer to power cycle it and restart it nightly. I was going fine until I messed up my fan while making some other adjustments. It's hit or miss so I record analog back-ups right now. Definitely beta, but I'm sure other people have had better luck. The recordings are great though.

OK, the unit runs hot - what doesn't now-days, and I'm thinking I should wait?
