HVR-2250 remote or not
Enough stalling and I am going to order the 2250 to add to my setup. I already have the Firefly Mini and really like it and wondering if I should get the 2250 with or without the remote.
Also considering the full sized Firefly since it seems to have a lot more functions that might make my wife's HTPC experience a little easier. Any advice from those that already a couple of remotes? (trying to cut costs and only get what I really need now that my HTPC is growing out of control )

Re: HVR-2250 remote or not
Well if you already have an IR blaster and remote, get the OEM model. I got the OEM model from Newegg and just tossed it in the machine. It will work fine with the existing IR blaster/remote you have.

Re: HVR-2250 remote or not
Thanks for the replies. I am looking at Newegg and Amazon for best price on white box version.
Appreciate the insight.

Re: HVR-2250 remote or not
If you already have a remote that works with BTV there's no reason to get one for the 2250. Any remote that's packaged with a tuner is designed to work with the PVR software that is included and is not necessarily compatible with BTV. Once you've set up the 2250 to work with BTV your existing remote will control it via the BTV interface.

Re: HVR-2250 remote or not
Just an update that it is nearly impossible to find the HVR-2250. Everyone is out of stock and even Amazon said 2 - 4 weeks to ship. Even the full retail package with remote is scarce.
I finally found a white box at my local MicroCenter instead of online. The box was completely white with no markings at all except for HVR-2250. No one there could tell me anything about it so I bought it even though it was full retail. I could not wait up to 4 weeks. Any way it turns out it came with the remote and blasters . So all that research and questions for no reason. I am wondering why these are so hard to find. I though it was fairly new so either they are selling like hot cakes or they are getting ready to discontinue for some reason.I guess I will either see if I can sell the remote and blasters since I do not play to blast anything or reprogram it to work with BTV Link when I get that setup. I tried blasters before once on my cable box with my DVD recorder and it really sucked.

Re: HVR-2250 remote or not
The 2250 is the next gen replacement for the PVR-500. I would imagine that the stock issues is directly related to the digital switch madness/people not being proactive.
All the Hauppauge remote work with BTV. One thing you will need to remember is if you are using a Hauppauge remote that came with an older Hauppauge card, you will need to reinstall those drivers. The remote are tied to the software so that last Hauppauge card you install will dictate which remote will work for all of them.
