HVR-2250 QAM scanning with 4.9 and WinTV 7

I just got the HVR-2250 and did a comparison between the QAM scanning using BTV 4.9 and WinTV 7 (the bundled application). Firstly, I did 3 separate scans with BTV and the first time I got 135 channels, the second I got 127 and the third I got 137. Is this normal? Then doing a scan with WinTV v7, I picked up 225 channels! I know there are many channels (especially the higher HD channels and music channels) that BTV is missing. Does anyone have any recommendations on my next step to get BTV to find more channels?

Also, does anyone notice that Music Choice channels take like 10 seconds to tune?

EDIT: I changed AllowHRCIRCComboScan to 1 and QAMSleepTime to 20 and it found well over 300 channels now. But I have yet to sort them out to see how many are dead air/poor signals. It did however take over 1 hour to scan whereas the WinTV application took 10 minutes to find 225 channels. BTV takes about 10 minutes also when set to the default QAM scanning parameters...

Re: HVR-2250 QAM scanning with 4.9 and WinTV 7

So I found this website that lists all of the digital channels available by zip code:
http://www.silicondust.com/hdhomerun/channels

specifically for me:
http://www.silicondust.com/hdhomerun...Postcode=18104
Digital Cable: 335 programs for Allentown, PA, 18104

So it makes sense that a more indepth search will find more channels however my lineup doesn't have all the channels that this website states. And for some reason, tuning to at least one new channel from this indepth search made my computer reboot. And I got no additional HD channels compared to the default search.

Yeah, I checked your lineup the other night, that's great for you. Wonder why there's such a big discrepancy between cable providers and what they supply clear qam?

Re: HVR-2250 QAM scanning with 4.9 and WinTV 7

I thought WinTV 7 was not usable with the 2250 yet and was only out for a few of the models. Did it come bundled with your 2250? Mine only came with WinTV6 and I can't even find where to download v7 on Hauppauge's site. Did I miss something?

You're right. I meant WinTV 6. However I did contact Hauppauge and they supplied me with a beta version of the 2250 drivers and WinTV and it works.
