Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support

Is it a ts file or tp file (was it recorded in btv or in tme?) BTV makes .tp files and treats them differently.

I fail like you do if I do not use intelligent quality, also I use the default recording settings for H.264 files, probably makes a difference. Last movie took 3 hours, showsqueeze from 5.6gb to 1.1.

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support

Not directly BTV related but is anyone else having issues getting the hauppauge remote to work with the newest HD PVR drivers? I've tried every version of ir32.exe I could find but can't get the remote to work.

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support

ok so i figured out a work around for showsqueeze i think, the only thing is that it doesnt involve using showsqueeze!

i have found that if i drag the movie (recorded by my HD PVR, .tp file) that i am trying to shrink down to another computer, and then change the extension to .ts i can then encode it using handbrake encoder.

this way i can record movies from my BTV box and then shrink them down for archiving purposes. it would be alot better if i could do this all without any human contact through BTV. But ol' well, seems like BTV is slipping considering all the new programs out there. i think this is the last program that doesnt officially support recording HD shows from a cable box....since the HD PVR isnt "supported" by BTV. whats the hold up?!?!?

im just happy im not stuck with HUGE files anymore

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support

It's amazing how often the same questions pop up. We really need a community support wiki.

If you look in the Settings.xml file, you will find an entry name something like "UseArcsoftForTranscode". That's currently set to 1. Set that to 0, and you should be able to transcode with ShowSqueeze.

you'll have to do a forum search on the exact location of the Settings.XML file; it's in your "all users" profile.

That's not a bad idea...Here's a free wiki creator site. They host it (also free) and users can contribute as things change. Now we just need a volunteer to get it started

Re: Hauppauge HD-PVR support

http://snapstream.helpserve.com/inde...articleid=1518

First post of this thread, and it is a sticky, halfway down it talks about the settings.xml

"# 'UseArcSoftForHDPVR' - default '1' ; option is '0'

Enabled by default, Beyond TV's post processing tasks uses the 'ArcSoft h.264 Video Decoder' to perform all the post processing tasks on HD-PVR recordings. When you disable this setting, it will use the default SnapStream Decoder to perform the post processing tasks."

It does not make a recommendation, but then again I leave this as default and have no issues showsqueezing, so what works for some may not work for others.

Also part of the issue is HD PVR is two words, if it were one word the forum search could key in in HDPVR and Showsqueeze. Advanced search can help.

Thank you SO much for this tip. I hadn't heard of handbrake, and after cutting an H.264 recording I couldn't get some programs to work with it. Handbrake worked perfectly and is VERY easy to use.

And since Showsqueeze isn't working for me on these, at least now I have a way to do it.
