How to convert recorded TP to DVD??

I've recorded some show via OTA HD, but would like to burn them onto DVDs, I have the DVD Burning plug in, but it doesn't allow me to add any HD shows....?? What could I do (especially to compress it to fit onto one DVD!)??

TIA!!

Re: How to convert recorded TP to DVD??

TP can not be recorded directly to DVD with the plug-in. You must first ShowSqueeze the recording and then add that file to the plug-in.

Hope that helps!

Re : How to convert recorded TP to DVD??

If you want a DVD that will play on any DVD players, then the max resolution is 480i, so your 720p or 1080i recording needs to be downconverted first...

If it's simply for storage, then you can burn it as a data DVD and keep it's resolution, though you will need to remove the commercial breaks and maybe convert to h.264/divx/xvid to actually fit on a single DVD.

Re: How to convert recorded TP to DVD??

TP recordings have to be ShowSqueezed to DivX/Windows Media first before it can be burned by the plugin

Re: How to convert recorded TP to DVD??

which format/bitrate would be prefered?? and does it matter if I showsqueez it to higher quality?? e.g. DivxHD High vs Low??

it's mainly for play back on DVD player. however, if for storage, is h.264 the best quality and will it keeping the DD 5.1??

Re: How to convert recorded TP to DVD??

How do you split up an Olympics broadcast for DVD burning if it runs 6 to 8 hours of continuous recording? If I put all those hours on one DVD, I'm concerned about the video quality.

Re: How to convert recorded TP to DVD??

ConvertXtoDVD also works very well. It's not free but it's literally a drag and drop program. Just open the program, drag the TP file into it and it does the rest. You can pick from several menus available as well.

hdtv2dvd seems to do a fine job for me. it's a freeware component on svcd2dvd's site.
i'd post a link, but the anti-spam mechanism here requires me to have 3 posts.

Re: How to convert recorded TP to DVD??

I was able to showsqueeze to divix then add the recording to DVD just fine.

The problem is that the anamorphic tag on the dvd does not get set, so when I watch the burned dvd on my dvd player, it is letterboxed. The aspect ratio is 4:3 instead of 13:9.

Is there anyway to fix this problem?

Re: How to convert recorded TP to DVD??

I use my copy of VideoRedo TV Suite to burn HD .TP video to dvd.

Works great and supports menus and chapters as well as BTV Smartskip files.
