Web admin issue - Vista 32bit

I've just installed Beyond TV 4.6.1 on a freshly installed PC running Vista SP1. I can watch TV fine but I am unable to access the web admin interface. I receive the following error message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".

I have followed this link but still no joy. I am currently using Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 and can't seem to figure out how to resolve this issue. I have searched through the forums but to no avail so I would greatly appreciate any assistance.

Re: Web admin issue - Vista 32bit

As far as I know, 4.6.1 wasn't certified for Vista, was it?

Re: Web admin issue - Vista 32bit

I saw that 4.6 was Vista compatible so I assumed, which was probably wrong for me to do so, that 4.6.1 was too. Although it may not be certified for Vista, do you think that this is the reason I am unable to access the web admin even though all other aspects of the program seem to be working fine?

Re: Web admin issue - Vista 32bit

No, my bad. I thought it was 4.7 that was certified.

Are you running any other webserver of any kind? What URL are you using. It should be:

http://localhost:8129

Re: Web admin issue - Vista 32bit

I'm not running any web server of any kind.

I right-click on the BeyondTV icon in the system tray and select "Advanced Settings". An Internet Explorer window opens with the address http://localhost:8129/Settings.aspx , the address you mention in your post, but I still receive the same error.

I have installed Comodo firewall and AVG anti-virus but for the life of me I cannot see how either of those programs stopping the connection, but I am not ruling out either of being the cause.

Any further advise would be greatly appreciated as, besides searching through this forum, I have searched Google and have come up with nothing.

Re: Web admin issue - Vista 32bit

It's not AVG (I run it), which leaves the Firewall. I don't run one as I'm fine with just the Windows firewall (being behind a NAT router).

The obvious: Does it work when you disable the firewall?

Re: Web admin issue - Vista 32bit

It doesn't work with the firewall off either. I've checked all my processes in Process Explorer, to ensure that all firewall components were shut down, and there is nothing related to the firewall still open.

Any other ideas?

I would start by checking if the services are all running and also run a netstat -a command (at a command prompt) to see if the server is listening on port 8129. I believe the BTVNetworkService (or something like that) is the on responsible for the web service.

Re: Web admin issue - Vista 32bit

All BTV services are running, as far as I am aware.

- BTVAgent2.exe
- BTVD3DShell.exe
- BTVLibraryService.exe
- BTVNetworkService.exe
- BTVRecordingEngine.exe
- BTVRecordingEngine.exe
- BTVSchedulerService.exe
- BTVSettingsService.exe
- BTVTaskManagerService.exe

I did as you recommended and ran the command, but there was no record of the port whatsoever in the list of TCP and UDP ports either being listened to or established.

Would this indicate that there is something blocking port 8129 from being used?

Re: Web admin issue - Vista 32bit

I am also having the same problem.

netstat -a does show something listening on port 8129. Should I just install an older version? Can I?

I have no firewall. I disabled everything including the windows defender.
perhaps a downgrade to XP is in order?

Re: Web admin issue - Vista 32bit

It is working now.

It seems the problem was using 'localhost'. When I changed to my local ip (192.168.1.73) it worked fine.

Hmm, this doesn't seem like a very good solution since the menu option off the tray icon goes to localhost.

I'm having the same problem, but what's interesting is that I can browse to webpage from another machine successfully:

http://sentinel:8129/

Anyone have any ideas what could be blocking this?

Thanks,
David
