SSW crashing after installing WMP9??

I recently installed Windows Media Player 9, Windows Media 9 codec, Movie Maker 2 and the DirectShow playback support update at the WindowsUpdate website...

Since then SnapStream has been crashing at the end of every recording.... It will complete the recording (and in fact sometines 2 back to back) but it crashes before it can rename the files from sstemp.wmv and index0.wmv.

Anyone else having similar problems or know a solution... Information from the Windows Update sute suggests that these updates cannot be easily uninstalled.

SnapStream 2.0 Full
Windows XP Pro
Hauppauge WinTV-PCI

There is a patch available from Snapstream that is supposed to correct the problem. The patch is included in Snapstream lite (Demo), and you have to email techsupport@snapstream.com to get it for the registered version.

Send a message via ICQ to vogelap
Does this bug affect ATI owners who run Quartz Beta 3? If so, someone please send me the patch for Quartz Beta 3!

Hmmm

4 Days, 2 emails....and still no reply to this issue. Is there really a patch to this problem? If there is one, why isnt it being issued out on the support page?

I answer new mail within four (business, of course) days of its issue.

Yes. You have to email techsupport at snapstream dot com in order to get it, though. I will also take requests through forum PM's. As stated before, I need to ascertain that you are a registered user of PVS 2.0 before I issue the patch. I have my own hypothesis about why this is so but feel that it would be imprudent for me to opine aloud.

As a note to all users, the WMP 9 patch for PVS 2.0 does not address the problem that some of you will notice that essentially prohibits streaming.

There is no fix for this issue, but this problem does not appear in PVS 3.0. Since the upgrade from PVS 2.0 to PVS 3.0 is free, it is nigh pointless to divert resources being spent exclusively on PVS 3.0's release to fixing a problem with PVS 2.0 -- that will be effectively avoided by the upgrade regardless.

And believe me, you want to make the upgrade, and not just for that reason.

Beta 4,5, and 6

SnapStream 2 works, SnapStream 3 does not, at least for me. I have never been able to get through the SetupWizard with any of the Betas. Therefore, I amvery interested in getting version 2 working, since I paid for the product.

That may not be a problem with the beta. Depending on your hardware setup.

At any rate, I believe I reached you through e-mail.
