Service Repaired - BTV detected that BTVScheduler Service was not running and restart
I've been getting popups regarding "Service Repaired - BTV detected that BTVScheduler Service was not running and restarted it" over and over.
They don't go away until I shut down BTV and restart it. Anyone know why this happens and/or how to fix it?

Re: Service Repaired - BTV detected that BTVScheduler Service was not running and res
I'm glad I'm not the only one then!
I've been having the same service crash along with a couple of others (EPG being the latest). I haven't figured out why yet, though.

I had the same problem. Upon waking from S3 stanby I would always get that message. I uninstalled and reinstalled 4.6. BTV running great now.
I'm staying away from 4.7 due to these and other issues and staying with 4.6. I do miss the drive pooling. |

Re: Service Repaired - BTV detected that BTVScheduler Service was not running and res
Hi everyone, I'm having this same issue. I lost out on about half of the Biggest Loser last night (not TOO bad since 2 hours is really overkill for that show... darn writers' strike!). I just flipped to my BeyondTV computer input channel on the TV on a whim and noticed the service was shut down. Had to restart BeyondTV and then the recording started. Not sure if it's related, but I'm also having a weird time issue where my computer keeps the Month/Day and Time correct but switches to the year 2000 randomly (already changed the motherboard CMOS battery). All of this is on a fresh install of Windows XP Pro SP2 and BeyondTV 4.7. Not much else on the computer (ZoneAlarm & iTunes). I looked at the log file and didn't notice anything weird, but I am also not sure what I am looking for. Anyone got any ideas?

Re: Service Repaired - BTV detected that BTVScheduler Service was not running and res
Well, I said screw it, and did a complete reinstall of everything (Windows XP Pro on down again... 2nd time in less than a week). This time I didn't import my saved archived status from BeyondTV (just re-set everything up again and tried to remember all of my settings and recordings and what-not). It was a little bit of a pain, but knock on wood, everything seems to be working correctly again (at least for about a day or so
). I'm guessing BeyondTV didn't like something in its own imported archived settings? I should know better, though. When you wipe everything and do a clean install, keep it just that... clean. No cheating and importing old settings from any pieces of software!

Re: Service Repaired - BTV detected that BTVScheduler Service was not running and res
The BeyondTV saved settings apparently are not to be used when updating. They are saved in a format directly related to the version of BTV they are stored from, and should not be used for a different version. I ran into the same problem awhile back.

Re: Service Repaired - BTV detected that BTVScheduler Service was not running and res
OK, I have apparently fixed this problem as it has not recurred before the last time BTV crashed.
I had produced a dbgview log of this phenomena and submitted a ticket. SS recommended I clean and re-install .NET 2.0 and the SP, which I did. That seems to have fixed it. Now just (it seems) one more bug to go. Aperiodic crashing when scheduled recordings start while recording something else.

Is there a way to do a repair install of .Net 2.0 in Vista x64? Snapstream support abandoned me as soon as I mentioned I was using the 64-bit version.

I had tried the .Net2.0 repair that was mentioned but that hadn't helped either.

Re: Service Repaired - BTV detected that BTVScheduler Service was not running and res
I ran the command, and no errors were found. Now I'm really at a loss as to whats going on.
I should mention that I can fix the issue temporarily if I run through the setup wizard. I don't have to change anything, just keep clicking "Next" until its finished and it launches BTV at the end. Problem is I have to keep doing the same thing every time I close and restart BTV, including reboots. When the Setup Wizard starts BTV, does it use any special commands or does it just start BTVD3DShell.exe? |

Re: Service Repaired - BTV detected that BTVScheduler Service was not running and res
do you have an NAS storing files?
look at the log and see if it is trying to get the list of programs on the NAS over and over again..........if so, the solution for me was to turn off the NAS, after which everything was happy, then turn the NAS back on again an hour or so later edit: happened after an upgrade in my case

Re: Service Repaired - BTV detected that BTVScheduler Service was not running and res
Getting back to this, I checked the log both before and after running the Setup wizard to try and fix this issue.
The first couple entries you can see BTV was started and is consistently trying to restart the services. The large entry was created by the setup wizard... notice all the garbage it was doing? I wonder if it's supposed to look like that or if it's because something is corrupt. The last entry is where Setup Wizard started BTV - Everything seems to be fine. Cat6man: This started to happen after an upgrade for me as well, and no, I do not have any type of NAS storage, or any mapped network drives. Edit: looks like the log is too large for me to make a direct post of it. I'll put it in a text file and attach it. |
